GF46 not displaying

Hi, I have 11 goflight modules on my sim (P3dv4.4 PMDG 737 800NG,) using GIT. When I switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10, all of them work except for the GF46. The GF46 is on the list of 11 modules, but the display is blank. When you press "identify", nothing happens. You can change all the settings for the module, mine are set to Nav2, Nav2, DME1, Dme2, but they will not display. I have tried setting it in GF config for P3d, with the exact same result. It shows up on the picture, but will not display. I did notice though, that even though it is not displaying on the module, the numbers do change on the simulator. Lastly, I hooked it up to a my old computer with FSX and GFconfig. This computer is completely independent from the one with all my other modules. On that computer it displays perfectly. Your help in getting GF46 to display on the module would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rob

  • Hi Rob,

The GF46 and GF166 are notorious for being difficult. I would check you have power management turned off and selective suspend off on the USB ports and hubs in Windows. GoFlight say you are not to use USB 3 ports and hubs for their equipment also.

I would also run Windows8Fixer.cmd as Administrator in the GoFlight drivers directory.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks for your quick response Steve. Would you happen to know what the link to the Goflight drivers directory should look like? I cannot seem to find it, and nothing comes up when I search my computer for Windows8fixer.cmd. Your help once again would be appreciated. Rob
  • It should be in c:\program files (x86)\Goflight
  • I have done pretty much every fix on this forum, but I am still having problems with the "display modules" RP45, RP46, GF166. I have 8 additional Goflight modules, and they all come on as soon as you start the GIT. Just a reminder, all 11 worked perfectly in windows 7, it is only when I switched to windows 10 that the problems started. These three, for some reason do not want to cooperate. I have figured out a way to get them to work, but it is a struggle each and every time. The GF 166 is plugged into the computer directly, the other two are each on a powered USB hub, on their own. If you unplug them for about 3 seconds, and plug them back in, then press the "restart" button on GIT, there is about a 70% chance it will light up, and work properly. For me it only works when you do this procedure, one module at a time. On short flights for about a half hour they work, but I have had two instances on longer flights where the GF 166 starts flashing and boom, the entire P3DV4.5 program crashes, and by that I mean, it is gone, completely off the screen. All the GF modules go dark, except the GF 166, which reads all zero's. One crash happened about 15 seconds before touch down, after an hour in the air. I have spent hours trying to figure this out but I concede that I am stumped. Someone must have a fix for this, I have read a few other posts with the same or similar problem. If anyone has the display modules working correctly, maybe you can write about your set up and how they are hooked up. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. These modules are important tools you need to fly. Without them, I am pretty much grounded. Thanks to all those who have read this, and hopefully someone has an answer.
  • I'll PM you John Kriegs email address from GoFlight to assist you.

    Hi Torontorob, Steve,

I have a GF45, RP-48 and P8 working correctly also with special detectives. My config is

    - xplane latest release
    - ZIBO 737 3.34 H release
    - pollypot latest release
    - GF45, RP48, P8 on separate hub external powered > 2 amps
    - Functions on the GF46 : NAV, COM, TXPD, Radio Alt, ALT, SPD, HDG, CRS

I am in contact with John but till now he suggested the usual things which are already suggested in many forum items.

Changed the setup for the GF-46 very simple, only COM1 and NAV1. But still no luck

I emailed Steve about a strange thing that i only discovered in the XML file of the GF-46 which is below this respons.

When i look in the XML from the export of the GF-46 i see error in the xml. One of the functions is doubled in the config on ID 9. When you look in GIT, the GF-46 has only 8 positions for EVENTS!! (so from 0 to 7). In other words, the last is not correct and maybe therefore cause a hang situation on GIT (non addressable range)
    This is <Control ID="8".....

    Regards,

    Andre

  • Hi Andre,

That isn't an error it is a fake rotary for when the rotary is pushed down.

    Best wishes
