GF MCP Pro/GF Efis with Majestic Dash 8-Q400

Hi all,

does someone made the MCP Pro working with the Majestic Dash? At "Default Setting" with the Goflight Config Tool I can use Heading and Altitude, but no V-Speed selection.

It would be fine if someone have made a config file like for the A2A Cessna.

Thanks and best regards,
Martin

Sorry, but since July there is nobody who can answer my question? Is there nobody who fly the Majestic Dash with a GF MCP Pro?

I'm just finishing up CS 777 (will be done tomorrow) that covers 90% of the systems from EFIS to MCP Pro to DIO, panels, weather radar, light dimmers, recirc, hydraulics, fuel, electrical, MFD selections, etc.

I'll be tackling the Q400 after the I complete CS 777 (so start in on it on Monday 22nd)  ... what specifically are you not seeing?  Are you using Steve's GIT?

What I've noticed with Steve's GIT (it's a wonderful tool BTW) is that sometimes the key lvars don't always show in Detective or show "late".  What seems to help is to select another control in the VC (anything other than the one you are trying to work with) then go back and select the one you are working with ... this trick often exposes the key lvars.

Also noticed that more complex operations ... for example I have a single Push Button with LED that essentially turns On/Off the entire bleed air system (about 6 buttons with LEDs) ... I needed to do this simply because I didn't have enough GF buttons.   Since the single button press logic got complex it also required the use of threading otherwise it wouldn't execute all 6 operations (only 4).

I have made the EFIS for CS 777 available to Steve, but doesn't look like he's posted it.  Either way, I can make the entire CS 777 available on my Web site and I'll do the same for the Q400 and Aerosoft's Airbus.  The Q400 is actually easier with fewer options than the CS 777.

But Steve's GIT is very powerful and once you figure out a few tricks it gets easier to do the programming/mapping.

    Cheers, Rob.

    Hello Rob:

That would be a wonderful present!

I have both the Q400 and Aerosoft's Airbus and being able to use my set up on those two aircraft would be great!

I have been using Steve's programs for longer than I (and surely him) want to acknowledge. At the time, I tried to help him with some testing and if you need a test or two, just ask!!

I will be following your progress with abated interest!!

    Thank you for the effort.

Many regards, Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

I have just finished the CS 777 (3 days of work, ugh).  So tomorrow I'll start in with the Q400.  So far the only parts of Steve's wonderful tool (GIT) that I can't seem to get to work in P3D is the KeyPress ... i.e. "SendKey LCONTROL F10" ... in fact any KeyPress will not work.

I typically don't use KeyPress ... but I wanted to map GSX (Ctrl + F10) to one of my P8 buttons.  Any hints welcome if you know how to get KeyPress to work.

    Cheers, Rob.

    Hi Rob,

I've just found and fixed the bug that causes key presses not to work in Prepar3D. I'll release a new version later today.

    Best wishes
    Steev
  • Any luck with the Q400 Rob? I've tried a couple of times do do a config for it but sending LVARS does nothing and there are no events that I can find.
    Steve McNitt
  • No luck so far Slayer ... was in contact with Majestic and they said no go on Lvars for current version of the Q400.  They are apparently going to open the door in their Pro and Training versions so I'll wait and see ... the Training version will be aimed at cockpit builders and full blow training systems with multi-crew.

I'm looking forward to it ... but ... just have to wait and see ... got my fingers crossed.

    Cheers, Rob.
  • I've got a working profile for the Q400 now using an EFIS and MCPPro. Have a few more things to work out then I'll release it here. Button lighting is kind of rough as they didn't expose everything needed to get the lighting to work.

I have managed to get the altitude/heading/course to display properly now. Unsure how this will work with shared cockpit in the Pro version as I haven't had anyone yet to test it with.

I've got 2 GF-166 as well but that will come later if I can make those work. Kind of skeptical due to how the radios work in the aircraft and they are radically different than the hardware.

  • hello
any updates on this, I bought the mcp pro last week and naively just expected it to work. boy have my eyes been opened. I should have researched better but my trigger finger bought it in a flash :-)

  • Many thanks for the profile of Majestic Dash 8. I installed it and one time it works great. Then suddenly I get error messages for every event "The Event "MJC_EFCP1_BRG2_VOR1" has Errored: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException...."

Since this time the MCP Pro and EFIS don't work anymore. Do you have an idea how I can fix this problem?

    Regards,
    Martin
  • Open detective and take a look at your bespoke events ,if any of them are empty something got corrupted. If that is the case delete all bespoke events and reimport.

Every time I see that error this has been the case.
    Steve McNitt
  • This my detective looks like. How I can delete all bespoke events? This red x isn't available. A few days ago I imported the xml files twice and had doubled entries. Then I deleted the 3 xml Userdata files under Documents\GIT an importet the MJC files. At this moment all worked without a problem. After switching between 2 airplanes GIT and P3Dv3.2 screwed up and now the MCP Pro and EFIS doesn't work. I see the right digits at the MCP Pro but if I turn the rotaries they don't work.
  • Could I messed up something because I changed from a A2A C182 directly to the Dash without quitting GIT and/or P3D?
  • edited May 2016

    Martin,

The X isn't showing because the Bespoke Event is empty. Pick a Bespoke Event that isn't empty then click the X.

There is no problem with switching between aircraft.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Thank you Steve!

Again I deleted the user config files and installed my bespoke events again. Before I bought the actual GIT and now it works, but I don't know what happened.

One problem with the MJC Dash is left. If I turn the rotaries HDG and Course at the MCP Pro clockwise the digits count up from 000 to 360 and then to more than 360 (361, 362...). If I turn CCW the digits count down to 000 and then the digits count 360, 350, 340...

Is there something wrong with my setup?

    Best regards,
    Martin
  • Hi Martin,

That sounds like a bug in the Bespoke Events. Perhaps Steve (Slayer) can confirm?

    Best Wishes

    Working ok here.

I suspect you need to reimport the MCP profile again.

I can't figure out why but some people are having issues with imports failing and seems to have to do with using the older GF driver 2.25.2. Using 2.26.1 seems to fix the issue.
    Steve McNitt
  • There is an updated GoFlight Driver here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qj9l968zsp7313p/GFConfigSetup_2_26_5.zip?dl=0

I had to uninstall the old one, to get it work OK.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • There are a couple of things I improved and will make a new version here soon.

Specifically the heading and course knobs will spin faster, the majestic events don't work with the rotate function(acceleration) so it is painstakingly slow to turn them right now. I've switched them to mouse events and those work great with hdg and crs knobs.
    Steve McNitt
  • "the majestic events don't work with the rotate function(acceleration) so it is painstakingly slow to turn them right now". I'll look into that and make sure they do by implementing the algorithm I used for X-Plane.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Thanks for the heads up on the driver.

Martin I've put out the new version of the Q400 profile for you to try. Maybe a driver update and a new profile will fix your remaining issues.
    Steve McNitt
  • Hello, I was off PC the last days. Now I'm downloading the new GoFlight drivers and install them after deinstalling the old one.

Steve (Slayer) where I can download your new profile? Is it the link at the download page? How I must deinstall the old profile? Only press the "X" button in detective and install the new files?

    Regards,
    Martin

Its in the user provided bespoke events section. Yes use the big red X, Remove all the old bespoke events, import the new ones then import the MCP etc again
    Steve McNitt
  • Sorry, I did it this way but it doesn't  work... If I turn HDG CCW from 000 there are 990, 980, CW I can rotate with normal steps, 000, 001, 002 and so on. This slow value increasing would not be a problem for me, but in one direction there steps with 10 and the other direction there are those 900 values.

For whatever reason the export didn't work properly on my end. Some of the changes didn't go into the export.

I've updated my software to 2.3.0.0 and have the newest Goflight driver. I'm removing the old download and putting a new one up for you to try.

Please update your software too so we are working off the same thing.

Last post here is the newest version:

, once I'm sure it's all working I'm going to ask Steve to pull the old version and replace it with this.
    Steve McNitt
  • Hi Steve,
I deinstalled the Goflight Driver and GIT. Installed Goflight Driver 2.26 Build 4 and GIT 2.3.0.0. Started P3Dv3.2, loaded the Dash (Pro) and startet GIT. Open Detective. Clicked the red X to delete the Bespoke Events. Closed GIT, startet it again and imported your new version. Unfortunately this also didn't work. After I deleted the 3 files at C:\Users\Martin\Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool and I import the new profile it works. But... after I closed GIT and startet it again, the same problems occured.

    I'm desperate...

As a test:  open your documents folder and rename or remove your Goflight Interface Tool folder to a safe location , then start GIT and your sim and see if you can import everything, soumething might be corrupted.

Also try running GIT as admin
    Steve McNitt
  • I already deleted the Goflight Interface Tool folder in documents, started GIT and imported the profile. That's interesting. I noticed that I must import the XML for the MCP Pro everytime I start GIT new. I'm testing now to run GIT as admin and let you know.

    Thank you for your patience.
