GoFlight RMK-166

Hello Guys,
I need help configuring couple of RCPs that I recently purchased that have goflight RMK-166 which is an older card, I hope that someone have the diver or any documentations or possibly have a way to get them to work and interface with either PMDG or PSX using P3D V4.5 simulator.
Thanks,
Sam

  • Hello Sam,

I have not heard of the RMK-166 devices. Are they like the GF-166? I would recommend loading up the Beech Baron 58, enabling the GF166 by picking Device 0 in the combo box and selecting ENABLE. The hit the COM button on the GF166 tab and then turn the rotary to see if it springs to life.

    Best wishes

  • I think RMK-166 is an older interface panel, the goflight configure software recognizes it as a COM but non of the dials or display works, I tried it with PMDG 747 the dials worked but backward meaning when I move the dials clockwise the numbers decrease also the display stays blank, it has to be a compatible driver.
  • You could swap the events around on the rotary for all clockwise and anti-clockwise configs. I can't help with the display as the GoFlight SDK offers no support for RMK-166 devices. Are you sure the displays are in working order?

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Displays works fine because once I plug in the USB cable they display RMK- 166, worst case if I cannot get them to configure I might try to replace the RMK166 with newer GF 166 if doable.

Older than 2003? That’s when I bought my GF166s which have worked fine ever since.

  • Not so sure how old is this board, however one of my friends was able to send me an older GF driver which doesn't recognize P3D but for some reason the panel works now, I just had to reverse some dial nob wiring because it was reading dialing backwards, I really don't know what happened in the program but it does work now.

I think the difference between RMK166 and GF166 is that the RMK 166 comes as a kit which has the interface board, wiring kit and displays separate in order to convert an actual aircraft radio panel which uses ARINC 429 into USB PC panel by removing the original electronics and replace them with RMK166 components, which is a great idea, gives you the option to use original parts without the need to use ARINC429 interface cards which are costly and not guarantee to work.
