Thanks Steve, much appreciated. Maybe next year they can come to RAF Cosford and show their products. Will you be there? I’m travelling down with Pete and John Dowson. Would be nice to meet you.
-
It’s now seven months since Steve posted the news about John back at GoFlight but the website is still unchanged. What is going on?

Hi Martin. There’s no message after Windows8Fixer has run. I suspect it makes changes to the Registry. You can check the MCP Pro using the executable I attached to a message in this topic. It will show you if all switches, dials and buttons are working. You need a MCP with firmware A25 or later. That is displayed briefly…
-
Martin, swap another GF module with the MCP. If the problem remains with the MCP then the problem lies with that. If it switches to the swapped module then it’s the USB port. Make sure all USB devices are unplugged and run Windows8Fixer.

I came across this by chance. This is the USB hub I bought as my previous one which was fine with W7 was not compatible with W10. Everything is now fine. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0725WHBX6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Steve, whilst I now have the AutoBrake commands working I did waste an awful lot of time both yesterday and today trying to work out why I couldn't get the commands working using P8 buttons. It transpires the module is disabled by default and requires the user to enable it before any commands can be assigned to buttons.…

konjan, See if this GoFlight file helps. Just place it in your GoFlight folder and run it. It will light up every LED showing if the unit is okay or not. You need firmware A25 or later. That can be seen briefly when you power up the MCP.
-
Okay Steve, got it sussed! To start off with the P8 unit was disabled and it took me a while to spot that. I've programmed two buttons now and the left LED lights up when RTO is selected and the right LED when 1, 2, 3 and MAX are selected. Both are off when the selector is set to Off.
-
Hi Steve, thanks for your reply. The problem is that example references a knob, not buttons. I have tried DEC_AUTOBRAKE_CONTROL with every option in Button Action and it doesn't do anything. If I choose EVT_MPM_AUTOBRAKE_SELECTOR it's the same problem. Can you try with a P8 and tell me what selections work please?

Hi Steve, I've managed to get the overhead GRD PWR light to correspond with the LED on my T8 unit. Thinking about it the light shows when GRD PWR is running and off when it isn't. Looking through the available actions for the Light Data for the T8 I selected DATA_FWDOH_ELEC_LIGHT_GROUND_POWER and with a Light Action of ON…

Hi Steve, No joy I'm afraid. In any case that suggestion would suggest WideClient needs to be running before P3D starts. I did try that but still the same error messages. This is what I have in FSUIPC5.INI [Auto] 1=Lua Aifreezer [LuaFiles] 1=gitlua 2=ipcinit 3=GrdPwr 4=Aifreezer The four LUA files are present in the…

Hi Steve. Confirmed my default aircraft is the Cub. Sorry but don’t follow your second reply. I do have WideFS as I run map software on another PC. But it was Pete himself who queried the error when I sent him a log on an unrelated matter. Is there any logging I can enable to see what is the issue?
-
:) You're welcome.
-
Hi Anton. Glad it fixed the problem. :)
-
Anton, it sounds like you have the same problem as I had. Try what I did in this topic. Since doing it my 166s have been fine. https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/vanillaforums/discussion/1010/gf-166-and-gf-46-lighting-up#latest

Hi Darren, Right concept, wrong file. It's not the GFDevP3D.ini file that needs editing. That is updated from the data in the master file - GFConfig.ini. That contains a section for each Flight Sim Product including the name of the relevant gfc file. Once I created a set of batch files to copy a customised GFConfig.ini…
-
Hi Curbz, thanks for that advice. What was intriguing me was the fact that if you opened GFConfig and loaded a new profile then closed it without saving it was the current profile the next time you opened GFConfig. This made me think that the profile name must be stored somewhere. Registry was the first place I looked but…
-
By script do you mean a batch file? The only way I can see of loading a different configuration file is to open GFConfig and load it there.
-
I powered up my PC this evening to check if the GF166 units were working okay. Frustrating to report the NAV GF166 was still playing silly buggers and displaying GF...166 then going blank when the GFConfig software was running. I read the GF readme and finally discovered what I had been doing wrong. It states that if you…
-
The NAV GF166 was fine for the rest of the flight. I've just shut down P3D and run GFWindows8Fixer. No interface or message but on opening GFConfig afterwards the Nav display stayed on for as long as the app was open. Maybe that's fixed it. Indeed it has. The lights have stayed on for over a minute now in GFConfig and that…

I've discovered my GFWindows8Fixer.log. Attached for info. I have eight GF units - MCP Pro, EFIS, 2xT8, 2x166, 1xP8 and 1xGF-LGT. All 8 units appear to be correctly identified in the log. 15 mins since my last post and the Nav 166 is still lit.
-
Steve, that's the first thing I check. Flying now. The NAV GF166 kept blanking after 10 secs or so when on the ground and taxiing. I just kept pressing the left button to turn the display back on. Did it a few times soon after take-off. It's now staying on! I'm going to swap USB cables with the other 166 that gives me no…
-
Lee, thanks for your post. Am I right in thinking turning that option off is the same as deselecting the option in Device Manager, USB device, Power Management tab? If so I still have a problem with one of my two GF-166 units. They are 16 years old but generally still work okay but are more problematic since changing to…

Very sorry to hear that Steve. Having lost both parents by the time I was 34 I know how painful it is. You only have one mum. My sympathies.
-
Texan4, are you connecting to USB2 ports? GoFlight kit is fussy about that. USB3 are not backward compatible as claimed.
-
Thanks Steve. I’ll copy and paste that in my AvSim topic. I’m sure it will reassure many.
-
Thanks Steve, much appreciated. Their website is their window to customers so even a simple message about company plans will be reassuring.
-
Thanks Steve. If you don’t mind I’ll post your reply on AvSim as there are rumours the company won’t resume trading.
-
Hi Steve, it’s been three months since you posted the news about John. The GoFlight website remains unchanged. Do you know what their plans are and when the website and forum will be updated?

Thanks fsam. :)
