PMDG 747 QOSII V3 not working with new GIT

What exactly is automatically configured??? I am using windows 7 (SP2), FSX gold/acceleration.

My simulator was custom built for PMDG 737, which works perfect, but I get sick of flying the same aircraft all the time. So I decided to go with the PMDG 747QOSII as this was supposed to work with the new GIT update.
The 747 V3 DOES NOT WORK on my setup. I almost had it working, but not...
I had so many different results while trying to get a functioning setup, I cannot even begin to tell you what happened along the way.
Could someone provide a STEP-BY-STEP procedure for this to work? I know when using PMDG aircraft, you are supposed to start with a default aircraft, and then switch back to PMDG.
My questions are simple, basic laymen's stuff, which I can never seem to find...ANYWHERE (who hasn't had that issue).
My simple questions hopefully someone has resolved:
1- What status do you leave the "GFConfig" setting on when loading "default" aircraft into virtual cockpit view? "FS Default or Compatible Add-On"?
2- After loading default aircraft, does it have to be running or just loaded into simulator?
3- When changing back to PMDG 747 aircraft, do you just "switch to the 747 in the simulator, or do you have to end the flight, and reload a saved flight?
4- After changing aircraft in simulator, do you change GFConfig back to Compatible Add-On, or do you change GFConfig before you change back to PMDG aircraft?
5- Is there a need to reset or close the GIT program after changing aircraft?
The reason I ask these questions is the GIT software says: "The MCP PRO, MCP, EFIS, and LGT/II devices are automatically configured."

  • If you have been using GIT with the 737, then you do exactly what you have been doing with the 747. To answer your specific points:

    1) The installation guide clearly states to leave GFConfig as compatible add-on for the MCP PRO when using GIT. See https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/16-installation/14-installation.html

    2) No, FSX must start up with a default aircraft, then either load a saved PMDG flight or configure and start a new PMDG flight.

    3) No. Quit FSX completely as the PMDG SDK breaks and so will GIT.

    4) You only change back if you are not using GIT and wish to use Goflights own software to drive the MCP PRO.

    5) No.

GIT is automatically configured for some hardware for PMDG aircraft, but you do need to enable the devices in GIT. Please see the Beginners Guide here for further information: https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/46-beginners-start-here/151-beginners-guide.html

PMDG specific information is here: https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/46-beginners-start-here/151-beginners-guide.html PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE KNOWN ISSUES SECTION!

If your MCP PRO is still not working, please see the FAQ entry titled: My MCP PRO or MCP Advanced is not updating its display (just showing zeroes) here: https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/16-installation/70-faq-goflight-interface-tool.html

  • I believe still following all the steps as pointed out above.

I have 2 questions. In the beginners guide, under PMDG, it says:
    1) Load the relevant aircraft and get the Virtual Cockpit visible.

    2) Click on the relevant hardware tab in GIT.

    3) Select a device from the drop-down device list.

    4) Enable the device.

The only drop down found under the MCP tab says "device 0". The box to right has option "ENABLED" or "AV_ENABLED". I am not sure if this is the drop down menu discussed but is the only drop down I can find. No luck with this change. I tried both "ENABLED" and "AV_ENABLED"

Sorry if I am asking strange questions, I did not do any of these things with the NGX. My LED displays are just showing "dashes" ---- --- ---- --, etc. not zeros. Thank you for your time.
  • It should be ENABLED. Have you followed the steps in the FAQ entry?

    Hello Steve... (resolved)...

I was able to get the MCP to work by selecting the drop down menu (under MCP) and selecting "device 0", then selecting "Enabled", not "AV_ENABLED". For some reason, this did not save the "Enable" setting the first time?! This is something that was not done with the PMDG 737 NGX aircraft. Actually I have never had to "enable" ANYTHING to get the 737 NGX to work properly with the Goflight MCP.
The only other Goflight product I use is the GF-TQ6 Advanced Throttle Quadrant (nice). The throttle was not an issue with setup.

Understandably, anyone who has the the other Goflight products/systems would have more experience with the setup procedure of switches and rotary encoders using the GIT interface software. My other panels are either custom built, or original aircraft panels converted to work with my simulator using FSUIPC settings and Leo Bodnar USB interface boards. Hopefully this is not a "WINDED" discussion, but an "INFORMATIVE" discussion that will help other aviation enthusiasts.
I hope this will help others in the future who decide to purchase the PMDG 747 Queen of the skies II (V3). This is an amazing add-on, as is the 737 NGX.

This software is a necessity for Goflight products, and I think (as someone who worked as as aircraft mechanic in the US Navy and McDonnell Douglas corp) rewriting of certain "steps" or "FAQS" on this topic would help greatly help most "LAYMEN" to understand. I am a "LAYMEN" with this software and spent several months trying to get my Goflight MCP to work.

Steve, Thank you for your help with this issue! Larry
